Equality means equal opportunities for everyone
The Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry supports its employees irrespective of their gender, nationality, religion, disability, age, cultural background and sexual identity. In establishing equal opportunities, we place particular importance on promoting careers and making work and family compatible.
Against sexual harassment
The MPI champions diversity, equal opportunities and the compatibility of work and family-life. With the Max Planck Society’s Code of Conduct, the Institute strictly opposes any discrimination and adheres to the codes of conduct for the protection of its employees against sexual discrimination, harassment and violence.
Service for families
We cooperate with the service provider pme. It provides a website that can help in finding caregivers and acts as a point of contact for any questions regarding family and work compatibility. For example, the service can help in finding babysitters, au pairs and kindergarten places. It can also assist in cases of “emergency”, when your children are ill or you need holiday care. Furthermore, it provides guidance for caregivers of elderly relatives.
The Minerva-FemmeNet is a network for female scientists from all research backgrounds and levels in the Max Planck Society. It aims to pass on the experience of established female scientists – including former members of the Institute – to junior female scientists through a mentoring program. More than 300 mentors from Germany, Great Britain, France, Spain, the USA and Japan are available on a voluntary basis to advise the almost 400 mentees on all matters of career planning and work-life balance. Mentoring is carried out predominantly in tandem teams.
