The PCC is divided into the following areas: Animal husbandry, experimental area, service area, warehouse, technical area and office/social area. The building has a total of 4 floors. It connects to the neighboring MRI building, which houses the small animal MRI scanner, via a corridor. The room layout was designed to allow a large number of different experiments to be carried out simultaneously. This requires relatively small experimental rooms as well as short distances to the animal husbandry rooms while ensuring a high degree of flexibility in use. All experimental, preparation, laboratory and holding rooms are categorized as S1 laboratories. In addition, there is an S2 area in accordance with the Genetic Engineering Safety Law, in which the viral vector work is carried out with the vectors produced in the S2 area of the neighboring laboratory building.
