Clinical Deep Phenotyping (CDP) Working Group

Clinical Deep Phenotyping (CDP) Working Group

The CDP Working Group is a local research consortium based at LMU Munich, MPI Psychiatry, and the University of Augsburg. Our primary focus is to study psychosis spectrum disordes using various modalities. Currently, our substudies include the CDP Study, CDP-STAR, IMPACT-LMU, IMPACT-AUX, and BrainTrain-LMU.

The Clinical Deep Phenotyping (CDP) Study (see study paper) is a comprehensive, multicenter initiative designed to unravel the complex biological, clinical, and cognitive underpinnings of severe mental illnesses, with a focus on psychotic disorders. By integrating extensive phenotypic assessments—including neuroimaging, cognitive testing, digital phenotyping, biosampling, and detailed clinical evaluations—the study aims to identify transdiagnostic biomarkers and stratify patient subgroups based on biologically grounded dimensions. Through this deep phenotyping approach, the CDP Study supports the development of precision psychiatry tools that can inform individualized diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, ultimately improving outcomes for people living with severe psychiatric conditions.

The CDP Working Group is the collaborative research team behind the Clinical Deep Phenotyping Study. It brings together experts from multiple institutions across psychiatry, neuroscience, genetics, and data science to coordinate and advance the study’s goals. The group is responsible for designing and implementing the comprehensive data collection protocols, managing the secure handling and sharing of biological and clinical data, and fostering collaborative research by enabling external investigators to submit project proposals. By overseeing data access and analysis, the CDP Working Group ensures scientific rigor, promotes transparency, and facilitates high-impact, interdisciplinary research aimed at identifying meaningful biomarkers and improving the understanding and treatment of severe mental illnesses.

CDP Study Data Access
If you’re interested in conducting analyses using data from the Clinical Deep Phenotyping (CDP) Study, a formal proposal must be submitted and reviewed by our expert committee before access can be granted.
This process helps to:
  • Evaluate reasonable data requests
  • Document ongoing and past research projects
  • Prevent overlap with existing studies
  • Establish a clear agreement between researchers and the CDP Working Group
Please download and fill in the current proposal template: Download
Please submit the completed and signed proposal (signed PDF + editable Word file without signature) to:

Note: Submissions to other e-mail addresses cannot be considered.

Your proposal will undergo peer review and receive one of the following outcomes:
  • Accepted
  • Revisions Required
  • Rejected
Once approved, you will receive access to the requested data.
Please note: The CDP Working Group reserves the right to revoke proposals in cases of suspected scientific misconduct or lack of progress within a reasonable timeframe.
