In his upcoming talk on "AI Tools in Science," Manuel Hoffmann will take you on a practical journey through the rapidly evolving landscape of tools already available to researchers at the Max Planck Society. He will also present other AI tools that are explicitly aimed at scientists and provide an overview of where AI is accelerating scientific discoveries right now or probably even making them possible in the first place. Moreover, AI agents will be covered and we’ll take a quick look at current hype topics such as Rent-a-Human, Claude CoWork, and Moltbook.
Bio
After studying Media Production in the UK and Journalism in Germany, Manuel Hoffmann worked as a radio, television, and online journalist as well as in a municipal press office for more than 20 years. Since mid-2024, he has been working as a Digital Media Manager in the communications team of Max Planck Information and Technology (formerly MPDL). Generative AI in use for science has fascinated him since he started at Max Planck. In the past two years he has given several talks on the topic and trie to keep himself up to date—which is not easy given the rapid pace of developments.
